Fuel Tanker Overturns and Explodes in Adubinso, Killing Driver and Destroying Shops

The community of Adubinso in the Afigya Kwabre South Municipality has been struck by tragedy after a fuel tanker accident claimed the life of Abass Toure, a well‑known tanker driver and resident of the area. The incident occurred when the tanker he was driving overturned and burst into flames, triggering a destructive fire that swept through nearby structures.

Eyewitnesses say the tanker was traveling from the Edwinase direction when the driver reportedly lost control while attempting to park by the roadside. The vehicle flipped, and within seconds, the tanker ignited, producing intense flames and thick black smoke visible across the community.

Toure died instantly in the blaze. His mate, who was with him at the time, suffered critical burn injuries and was rushed to a medical facility for emergency treatment.

Shops and Vehicle Destroyed in the Inferno

The fire spread rapidly, consuming seven container shops lined along the roadside. A parked vehicle was also completely destroyed before firefighters managed to contain the flames.

Fire officials say they received the emergency call shortly after noon and deployed a team that arrived within minutes. Their swift response prevented the fire from spreading into nearby homes and causing even greater devastation.

Residents described the scene as chaotic, with shop owners attempting to salvage goods while others fled for safety.
