Czech Summer Camp Fire Near Beroun Forces Evacuation of 71 — Cabin, Shelter and Forest Destroyed

A children’s summer camp near Beroun was evacuated on Saturday morning after a fire broke out in one of the camp’s wooden cabins and quickly spread to a nearby forest. Firefighters evacuated 71 people, including 40 children, and brought the blaze under control within an hour.

One person suffered smoke inhalation, but all children were safely moved to the local municipal office to wait for their parents. Officials say the fire caused around 900,000 CZK in damage and was triggered by a technical fault in the cabin’s chimney. A post‑trauma care team later provided toys to help calm the children after the frightening experience.
